About

Amit Singhal is an Indian-American computer scientist who served as Senior Vice President at Google, where he was the long-time head of the core search algorithms team. He was one of the principal architects of Google Search — perhaps the most widely used piece of software in human history.

During his tenure at Google, he oversaw fundamental improvements to how the search engine understands and responds to human queries, helping to develop the Knowledge Graph and other features that made Google Search increasingly intelligent and useful.

Before joining Google in 1999, he earned his PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University. He was named in Time magazine's list of 100 Most Influential People and is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern information retrieval. His work has shaped how billions of people access knowledge every day.
