Amitabh Bachchan — known as the Shehenshah of Bollywood — is one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema. With a career spanning over five decades and more than 190 films, he has achieved a level of popularity and respect that few entertainers anywhere in the world can match.
He rose to prominence in the 1970s with a string of iconic roles in films including Zanjeer, Deewar, Sholay and Amar Akbar Anthony, establishing himself as the original "angry young man" of Bollywood. He has since reinvented himself multiple times, winning four National Film Awards and dozens of Filmfare Awards.
He is the recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan — among India's highest civilian honours — as well as the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Indian cinema's most prestigious lifetime achievement honour. He is also known internationally as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, India's version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
